How New Tariffs May Impact Your Promo Plans

If the last few years have taught us anything, it’s how to adapt—and right now, the industry is being asked to do that once again.

On April 2, the White House announced a new round of reciprocal tariffs on imported goods. For most countries, this means a base rate of 10%. Certain countries may face higher rates; China is now subject to tariffs as high as 145%. Some countries are actively negotiating with the U.S., and we expect more movement on this in the weeks ahead.

As you can imagine, this will likely have some effect on pricing across the promotional products industry. However, because Fine Promotions works with thousands of suppliers, each with their own sourcing and production strategies, it’s difficult to say exactly how (or when) pricing might change.

We work with thousands of suppliers across the globe, so while we can’t give specific impacts just yet, we want to share a few key ways this may affect upcoming promotions:

How does this impact you, and what can you do?

  • Overseas custom orders may see price hikes or delays. Projects that rely on global production may experience longer lead times and higher costs. If your supplier is in China, contact your rep to source alternatives with lower tariffs.

  • If you’re working on a tight Q3 or Q4 budget, now’s the time to lock in products and pricing before costs rise or inventory tightens. Order now when possible.

  • Domestic and in-stock items are a smart bet—many are still priced before the tariff was implemented. But act fast: new inventory will reflect higher costs.

Let’s talk early. We can help you explore alternative products, domestic sourcing options, or in-stock items that still meet your needs without breaking the bank.

We’re here to help you adjust product mix, timing, or sourcing to keep your promo plans on track.

We know change can feel uncertain, but our team is here to make it easier. From budget-friendly swaps to creative new solutions, we’ll help you pivot (yep, we said it) without sacrificing impact.

If you have a project coming up, now’s a great time to connect with your rep or schedule a quick discovery call.

Thanks for trusting Fine Promotions. We’ll keep you updated as the situation evolves—and in the meantime, we’ve got your back.
